In addition, as the Gastwerk Hotel team, we are committed to social responsibility and promote a more conscious approach to the environment and resources in our daily hotel operations.
We are continuously working to further develop our hotel operations, reduce emissions, and communicate our actions transparently.
We have taken an important step on this journey with our GreenSign certification. GreenSign is a recognised sustainability certification for hotel businesses.
The certification assesses, among other things, ecological measures, social responsibility, and economic sustainability, and supports us in classifying our progress transparently and further expanding our efforts.
Together with selected partners, we focus on sustainable solutions and responsible practices.
Coffeecycle is a Hamburg-based start-up that transforms used coffee grounds into high-quality natural cosmetics. Recycled espresso residues are turned into nourishing products with a gentle exfoliating effect and natural ingredients such as oils, antioxidants and caffeine. In this way, a by-product becomes a meaningfully used raw material.
At Gastwerk, coffee grounds are produced daily in our restaurant, bar and event areas. Together with Coffeecycle, we give them a second life and turn them into our own coffee soap. Locally produced, collected on a regular basis, and consistently designed with circular economy principles in mind.
This collaboration combines the sustainable use of resources with a product that turns something everyday into something special.
Regional honey from Ottensen
Together with the Ottensen Beekeeping Association, we are committed to regional products and short supply chains. We not only sell this natural honey from Hamburg-Ottensen in our guest shop, but also let our guests experience it at breakfast at our tee station.
Saving food with foodsharing Hamburg
For us, sustainability also means treating food responsibly. That is why we work with foodsharing Hamburg. When food is left over after meetings, conferences or events, the volunteer ‘food savers’ ensure that it is passed on and put to good use. In this way, we work together to help reduce food waste.
